Blue Shirt Day had students in blue for bullying prevention

Every October, schools and organizations across Buffalo County, Wisconsin join STOMP Out Bullying in observing National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal is to encourage communities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying by increasing awareness of the prevalence and impact of bullying on all children of all ages.

On Monday, October 7, 2019 students in Alma, Gilmanton, Mondovi and Cochrane-Fountain City School Districts wore blue shirts to raise awareness for the need of bullying prevention. Each student who wore blue illustrated that they are an “upstander” (someone who stands up to bullies) rather than a bystander that stands by and watches. Students used the hashtag #BuffaloUpBuffalo and took pledges to be kind to others.

Locally the campaign was supported by the Buffalo County Partnership Council, a coalition of youth and adults who work towards effective youth and family development in Buffalo County schools and communities.
