C-FC’s sixth graders take on 4-H STEM Challenge

The sixth graders in Mr. Brian Holt’s science classroom engaged in the 2023 National 4-H STEM Challenge Power Protectors. For the inquiry based lesson students put their knowledge of renewable energy and the engineering design process to work to design and built their own solar tower receiver and solar reflector models. The middle school students’ challenge was to find the most efficient height of the tower, most effective distance from the receiver, and most sturdy design to withstand powerful winds. Annie Lisowski, Buffalo County 4-H Youth Development Educator with UW-Madison Division of Extension, was the guest teacher for the day.
