The college students employed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension Buffalo County are ready for a summer guiding our young people. Summer staff that will work at the Mondovi Community Youth Center and the Cochrane-Fountain City 4-H Afterschool program participated in a three day training May 21-23. At the training, college interns worked on developing youth development professionals core competencies. Key components of the training included trauma-informed responses in non-formal educational settings, student behavior prevention and intervention models, universal design lesson planning, experiential and inquiry based learning methods and incorporating social-emotional learning practices into the summer curriculum.
