Hovey and Halper are summer interns in Extension

I’m excited to begin my third summer as the Buffalo County Fair Intern and my 13th year involved with the youth facet of the Buffalo County Fair! Recently, I completed my third year at UW-River Falls majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Each semester I have been able to spend more time in the classroom and work with youth from all backgrounds!  The fair truly is one of the highlights of my summer. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to continue my involvement with the fair and the outstanding youth, families, and community we have! I look forward to and enjoy helping families prepare for the fair, answering questions regarding exhibits, and watching the many successes of our 4-H and FFA members from both Buffalo and Pepin counties!  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the Buffalo County Fair!

My name is Jacob Halper and I am currently a student at Saint Mary’s University in Winona, MN. I am a Theology, Philosophy, and History major (yes all 3) and through that it becomes obvious that one of my favorite things to do is read. I am also an avid gamer and fisherman, and between those three hobbies I pretty much use all of my free time! In the future I would love to go on to graduate school to get a Masters and PH.D in Theology and History, and a Masters in Philosophy. I am most excited to finally get to experience 4-H as I was never able to when I was growing up!

Jacob comes to Extension with experience in day camps in Illinois and working with students at-risk. In his role he will be coordinating STEAM Discovery Days, serving as an assistant direct at 4-H Camp and teaching at Cloverbud Days. Welcome, Jacob!
