The Mondovi Community Youth Center welcomed students back on the first day of school, September 1. While the reopening plan allows for limited capacity, one pod of elementary students enjoyed returning to MCYC in the basement of the City Hall Building. Students and staff are following physical distancing and face covering requirements set by the UW-Madison Division of Extension Buffalo County during the COVID-19 pandemic. The MCYC staff includes Josh Close, a licensed educator and longtime MCYC veteran, and Kelly Nygaard, a Mondovi High School student in her second year at MCYC.
MCYC is looking forward to providing homework help and academic enrichment activities for young people as in previous years, even if the design and interaction will be different in 2020. Youth will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM experiments, social-emotional learning activities and service-learning experiences that enable young people to give back to their community during the 2020-2021 school year.
