Partnership between Buffalo County 4-H and Merrick State Park hopes to engage families outside

An ongoing partnership between the Buffalo County 4-H Afterschool program at Cochrane-Fountain City school and Merrick State Park is working to engage students and their families in learning outside this season. Ranger Christina Lake and the Friends of Merrick State Park user group the Turtles collaborated with 4-H Youth Development Educator, Annie Lisowski, to have over thirty students clean, carve and design jack-o-lanterns that will light the trail for the Not So Spooky Hike at Merrick State Park on Saturday, October 23 starting at 5:00pm. Engaging 4-H members and their families in environmental education opportunities that connect youth and adults with their local natural resources is an important part of the learning goals at 4-H Afterschool.
