Young people gathered for a fun-filled and educational Paws and Tails: Dog Project Fun Day, where they explored the exciting world of the Buffalo County 4-H Dog Project. The morning kicked off with hands-on learning led by Sam and Kim, Buffalo County 4-H Dog Project leaders. Sam brought her dog, Mimic, who helped demonstrate key dog project skills, including agility and rally. Participants also learned practical tips for getting started with training their own dogs at home and had the special opportunity to work directly with Mimic during demonstrations.
In addition to working with dogs, participants enjoyed creative activities that blended learning and fun. Youth made personalized dog tags using the Buffalo County metal stamping STEM toolkit and created dog toys from recycled t-shirts. Throughout the day, young people asked thoughtful questions, learned more about what the dog project has to offer, and grew excited about the possibilities of becoming involved. The Dog Project Fun Day was a great mix of learning, creativity, and hands-on experiences that inspired participants to continue their 4-H journey with their canine companions.
