4-H Discovery Kit

Audience: Grades 5K -2

Learn what 4-H means and explore Head, Heart, Hands, and Health through this hands-on 4-H Discovery Kit designed for any youth in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade! Together, we will explore what 4-H means and explain the Head, Heart, Hands, and Health with fun activities!  You will receive a project box kit with the main supplies needed and a list of supplies you will need to find from home. There will be live Zoom (video teleconference) meetings on the following dates for youth to learn about 4-H and to complete the activities together. Youth may need adult supervision with some of the activities.

  • January 13, 6:30-7:30 PM – Rockets Away
  • January 27, 6:30-7:30 PM – The Day You Begin Book Read
  • February 10, 6:30-7:30 PM – Lava Mug Cake
  • February 24, 6:30 – 7:30 PM – Healthy Minds and Bodies

Registration: Registration is free. Registration will be open for youth in grades 5K-2 from October 30-November 16 (registration can be edited anytime before November 17). Kits: There is a $5 fee for kits (one kit per youth). The kit will include the needed supplies, while families will be asked to gather some additional supplies on their own (Note: If you build your own kit, we will email you the materials to print). Kits will be delivered to the county Extension office after the new year; families will be notified when to pick up kits. Space is limited to the first 250 youth; a waiting list is available.

Design Your Landscape Kit

Audience: Grades 3-8

Do you love to draw, garden, or create? Join us for a hands-on 4-H Landscape Design project where creativity meets nature! You’ll learn how to plan, sketch, and bring your very own landscape design to life—whether it’s a backyard,  park, or natural space. Along the way, you’ll explore the science behind plants, soil, water, and the different types of “scapes” that make up the world around us. This project is perfect for young artists, nature lovers, and curious minds who want to combine art and environmental know-how.

Program Design: The program will last 5 weeks—January 26-February 23. It includes three Zoom sessions, along with at-home learning activities for youth to complete between sessions. 

  • January 26, 6:30-7:30 PM – Introduction to Designing Your Landscape
  • February 9, 6:30-7:30 PM – Plans and Plants: Where Creativity Thrives
  • February 23, 6:30-7:30 PM – Let’s Look at What You Created

Registration: Registration is free. Exploring Careers in Agriculture Program

Audience: Grades 7-10

Agriculture careers are everywhere and this program is your opportunity to find out what’s possible. This 3-session program will be a great chance to explore different career options in agriculture and to get inspired through conversations with professionals from across the agriculture industry.  We can’t wait to spend this time with you—learning about future career options together!

Program Design: There will be live Zoom (video teleconference) meetings on the following dates for youth to learn about 4-H and to complete the activities together. It is important to note, it may be best for youth to complete activities with adult help to allow for discussion and feedback.

  • February 23, 7:00-8:00 PM – Skill Inventory: Ready for Life and Sparks
  • March 2, 7:00-8:00 PM- Discover Agriculture Career Opportunities 
  • March 9, 7:00-8:00 PM – Career Panel Discussion with Industry Professionals 

Registration: Registration is free. Registration will be open for youth in grades 7-10 from October 30-November 16 (registration can be edited anytime before November 17). Curriculum: There is a $5 fee for the required curriculum (one curriculum guide per youth; $11.95 if you purchase on your own from Shop4-H). Curriculum will be delivered to the county Extension office after the new year; families will be notified when to pick it up. Space is limited to the first 100 youth; a waiting list is available.
