Golden Hornets 4-H Club Visits Valley Springs Maple Syrup

The Golden Hornets 4-H Club took a sweet adventure to Valley Springs Maple Syrup in Waumandee, Wisconsin, on Sunday, March 23rd! Members and their families learned firsthand how maple syrup is made, from tapping trees to boiling sap into syrup.

The owners, Susan Pronschinske and Arick Pronschinske, welcomed the group, who explained how sap is collected through tubes and stored in bulk tanks. At the Sugar House, they saw a reverse osmosis system and the large evaporator where 40 gallons of sap are refined and boiled down to make one gallon of syrup!

After the tour, Valley Springs treated the club to waffles, French toast, and ice cream topped with their fresh maple syrup—everything was delicious!

The visit to Valley Springs Maple Syrup was a great way for the Golden Hornets 4-H Club to learn about local agriculture and the hard work that goes into making maple syrup. The members left with a new appreciation for this sweet Wisconsin tradition and some fun memories to share. Golden Hornets 4-H Club extends its thanks and appreciation to Valley Springs for welcoming them and sharing their knowledge.
