2012 Hops and Barley for the Wisconsin Craft Beer Industry Seminar Resources

Over 50 people attended the 2012 seminar.  We had great discussion on all presentations and finished the workshop with and excellent tour.  Listed below are some of the materials from the workshop.  More information will be added as it becomes available:

Brewer_Panel_Discussion – 2011 Vermont  Very similar to the information provided by craft brewers from Wisconsin at our 2010 and 2011 workshops.  Brewers want/need quality ingredients for production.  They want to support local hop and barley growers, but not at the expense of quality.

  HPM resistance management article 3-12  Fungicides for Hop Powdery Mildew Management, 2012.  Article on fungicide research at Washington State University.  Remember that Wisconsin growers will need to read labels for registration and use.

 Regional Powdery Mildew Management article 2-12  Article by David Gent on pruning to control powdery mildew.  Questions at the seminar that need research in Wisconsin were how aggressive can we be in Wisconsin on pruning, can we aggressively prune the second year, or will we cause too much stress to the young plants, how late can we prune and still get the benefits?

2012 abma malting Varieties  American Malting Barley Association approved varities – recommended for US barley growers.  Put together after testing by both private and public labs.
