From your perspective, how have BCPC’s efforts impacted your peers, school, and community?

In my opinion, the Buffalo County Partnership Council has made lasting contributions to our community and the individuals who live in it. By spreading awareness through prevention days and initiatives, BCPC has been able to educate the youth on positive development and healthy relationships. Through the acknowledgment of issues in our community, the council has identified risk behaviors and has taken steps toward preventing them in our schools. Even though BCPC’s role is often overlooked and underappreciated by students, it is evident that efforts made by the council have positively impacted how students interact with each other. Prevention days such as 8th Grade Day, 10th Grade Day, Senior Day, and 5th and 6th Grade Day have successfully prepared youth in our schools for potentially dangerous behaviors or decisions that they may face in the future; without them, these students are uneducated on the consequences of their behaviors. In addition to this, these prevention days provide a safe environment for youth to talk about specific issues in their community, ask questions to professionals, and share their insights. Through its multiple efforts, the Buffalo County Partnership Council has been able to make a significant impact on the mental and physical health of our schools. Without it, individuals in the Buffalo County area would be unaware of the issues that harm their communities.

From your perspective, how have BCPC’s efforts impacted your peers, school, and community?

I vividly remember attending the 5th and 6th grade outreach day when I was 11 years old. It was my first experience with a Buffalo County Outreach event, and I didn’t know much when I walked in. But by the time I left, I understood exactly why we were there. These outreach days not only provide vital information to young students but also bring together schools in our conference. As a high school senior, I now compete in varsity sports against girls from other schools, some of whom are also members of BCPC. Games can get heated as we are competing against each other. Yet, when we come together as a group, none of that matters. Whether we’re opponents next Tuesday or not, there’s no focus on the competition. As members of the BCPC, our shared priority is working together to improve our county as a whole. I think that this is a prime example of the unity that BCPC provides. And to me, that is a huge impact.
