Hilltop Climbers 4-H Club Visit the Weiss Family Farms

Hilltop Climbers 4-H Club met on June 23 at Weiss Family Farms as a way to celebrate June Dairy Month. Families were able to view the cows being milked on the 50-cow carousel, a tour of the farm, and pet the baby calves. They also treated us with ice cream sandwiches. We appreciate the hospitality from the Weiss Family. It was such a great farm tour where we learned many new things about dairy farming! We then went to Memorial Park in Durand where we held our business meeting. For old business, congratulations to our 4-H graduates Alivia Pichler and Jake Linse. Members told about their experiences at the Cloverbud project meeting, Camp Kinnissippewa, Foods Revue, and working at the Buffalo County Dairy Breakfast. Thank you to Rod Moats and Doug George for re-installing our Little Free Library at Mirror Lake this spring now that the road construction is complete. For new business, members were reminded to complete YQCA certification by July 1 and the second educational requirement by July 26. Two opportunities for the second requirement include a livestock meeting on July 11 at the Marten Center and a showmanship clinic at the George family farm on July 22. Both require pre-registration. T-shirt orders will be accepted until July 1. Thank you to Jen Roetter for coordinating our shirt orders. Other reminders included to turn in cash raffle tickets by July 15 to Patty, sign up for a food stand shift, and fair set up is Sunday before the fair this year from noon to 4:00. We concluded our fun day with Alex’s Pizza. Our next meeting is Sunday, July 21 at 4;00 at the Marten Center.
