The Cheerful Workers 4-H Club gathered on February 1st for their monthly meeting, where they reviewed upcoming events and updates from the recent Leader’s Meeting. After wrapping up business, members dove into the Metal Works STEM Box, crafting yarn‑wrapped, foil-covered hearts and coloring them with markers. This month’s 4-H STEM Toolkit spotlight features the Metal Working Toolkit, offering youth a creative, hands-on way to explore design, texture, and problem-solving through metal art. Members can try a foil-wrapped heart project at home using everyday materials or work together as a club by renting the full toolkit. This flexible project blends art and STEM and can be displayed as an ornament, window hanging, card, or framed piece — making it perfect for club meetings, project days, or independent learning.

We Are Seeking Teen Court Panel Members!

Buffalo and Pepin Counties Teen Court is recruiting high school students (grades 9–11) from local districts to serve on its 2026 panel. Teen Court offers youth the chance to participate in the juvenile justice system through restorative practices, while gaining leadership and decision-making experience. Interested students can apply online and contact the coordinator for more details.

Season of Giving: Hilltop Climbers Make a Difference in Buffalo County

The Hilltop Climbers held their Season of Giving meeting on December 14 at Club 10 Bowling Alley, led by Bella. Members celebrated having the largest turnout at the Buffalo County Leaders social, explored leadership and personality types, and discussed possible changes to the Festival of the Arts. They also completed several service projects, including making snack bags for the backpack program, creating ornaments, donating to the food pantry, and participating in the “Sock Your Neighbor” holiday activity. The meeting concluded with bowling and pizza.

Meats Judging Contest

The 4-H Meats Judging Contest challenges youth to demonstrate their knowledge of meat quality and animal products by judging carcass and retail cut classes, grading carcasses, and identifying retail cuts. Open to Wisconsin 4-H members ages 8–18, the contest offers junior and senior divisions, with top teams advancing to regional and national competitions. The 2026 contest will be held on Saturday, January 31, at UW-Madison, with registration due by January 19 in 4-H Online. Resources and details are available on the UW-Madison Youth Livestock site.
